Beginning in 1946,
Landmark Acres Antiques has grown to be one of the larger and older
quality antique shops in this part of the nation. Landmark Acres
Antiques is in a large barn, the oldest building in Chautauqua County,
1802. Col. James McManon originally purchased a tract of land from the
Holland Land Company, 29,000 acres, the origination of Chautauqua
County. Chautauqua County celebrated its 100th anniversary
in 1902 on the front lawn of our Landmark Acres and also the
bicentennial celebration in 2002. Landmark Acres is the site of the
first post office in Chautauqua County and is also the oldest farm in
the County, now a grape farm in the heart of the Chautauqua Lake
Erie wine trail. This area is the largest concord grape growing region
in the world. Westfield NY offers a wonderful experience for the visitor
with its historic homes, desirable location on the shore of Lake Erie
and five miles from Chautauqua Lake and Institution. Our antique shop has over 5000 square feet of early antiques (1725 to1925) and a few decorator items in room settings with three large display rooms upstairs and down. We publish only a few items to our website to give you an idea of the quality of our inventory. If you wish to know more about certain antiques you may find that our antique shop inventory is helpful. Most major pieces have a detailed description which can be of assistance in helping you to guarantee their authenticity and guide you with research on the net. We do no shows, do not sell on E-bay and do not send anything to auction. Please visit, you can carefully examine an item before purchase. We buy all antiques outright and sell through our shop and website. Since we own all antiques we also offer a reasonable and detailed return policy on your receipt. We are always interested in buying antiques of quality. |

You may find that our shop inventory is helpful in determining the value of pieces you already own since our inventory is large and most important items have detailed descriptions. These also allow you to examine items carefully, help you to guarantee their authenticity and guide you with research on the net. We are always interested in buying outright antiques of quality. If you consign with others ask a few important questions. Is the item insured, how is the item priced and if placed on a website, what is the site name? Most consignments involve shop owners and their website. Your items might also be photographed and placed on larger websites or different places, perhaps with an auctioneer. You should have this information in order to follow an item's sale and final price. We have been able to purchase special items from early private homes in the western half of NY, PA and eastern Ohio, recently Columbus Ohio. This area has a history of many people having major fine historic furnishings in their homes. Earlier many wagons leaving from Boston for a new life in the far west found they had taken too much with them and had to leave many wonderful historical furnishings in Western New York, Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio, many settled here. In the 19th century this area experienced the original beginnings of the Industrial Revolution in the United States. Oil was first discovered in the United States just a few miles south of us in Titusville, Pa. 1859. It was the dawn of the oil industry, no longer from sperm whales but now from the earth. People flocked to Western PA to purchase land contributing to the rise of five very wealthy small communities south of us and North of Pittsburgh. The early rise of the furniture industry in Jamestown and Buffalo, NY (Kittinger), Ohio (Mitchell & Rammelsburg and Kramer Bros.), the steel industry Buffalo and Pittsburgh, the lumber industry Western Pennsylvania (certain trees found here were used for the highest quality ship's masts in the world), the automobile industry Cleveland (small parts mfg. for Detroit and the original rise of John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company for refining purposes 1863). Standard Oil grew to having refineries all across the nation and a monopoly which was broken up by the government in 1911. All this resulted in a large number of historic homes with fine furnishings., Pittsburgh was also part of the early beginnings of the manufacturing industry (Pittsburgh Glass. etc.) with these peoples' thirst for furnishings. As people in these small communities became extremely wealthy they bought many things, at first from Pittsburgh as well as Cleveland & Buffalo, centers of the new Industrial Revolution in the United States. These people later bought directly out of New York City from world famous dealers, a few bought homes on 5th Ave. as a base for getaways and shopping. Many dealers like Tiffany designed their windows, sold them lighting, silver & jewelry. Several major dealers in New York City now began buying items for their shops from New England, London and Paris. This was also to accommodate the new 60 wealthiest New York City families in the world as a result of the Industrial Revolution w. steamships, railroads, etc. In more recent years we have bought many items from the local homes of some of these earlier wealthy families and their descendants in Western PA, NY and Ohio.
